  When I was young, I was not a very hard-working student. At that time, I learned Chinese conversation. I only started to learn Chinese characters when I was 40 years old. Then I made the world's first website of Chinese character sources.

  [Explanation] Richard Sears spent 20 years sorting out oracle bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, small seals and other glyphs and put them on the Internet. Chinese character learners around the world can view the corresponding glyphs as long as they input Chinese characters.

  [Explanation] Within ten years, he scanned 48,000 "Liu Shu Tong" seal characters, 24,000 "Bronze Inscriptions" fonts, and 31,000 "Oracle Bone Inscriptions".

The Chinese have a habit. They reverse the word "Fu" to indicate that the wine or the contents stored in the container means to be poured into the home. This is Chinese culture.

This also means that Chinese belongs to the world, and Chinese characters are not only Chinese, but also part of the culture of the world.

  [Explanation] According to statistics from Hanban, as of 2020, more than 70 countries around the world have included Chinese in their national education systems. More than 4,000 foreign universities, more than 30,000 primary and secondary schools, and more than 45,000 Chinese schools and training institutions have opened Chinese course.

  Many foreigners also want to know Chinese culture, Chinese economy, and Chinese science.

Therefore, learning Chinese and Chinese characters are becoming more and more important.

  [Explanation] In December 2020, 70-year-old Richard Sears received a permanent residence ID card for foreigners in the People’s Republic of China.

With this card, "Uncle Chinese" plans to live in Nanjing for a long time.
