The last two editions of Main Square have been canceled due to the coronavirus.
The festival returns in the summer of 2022 with an extended program over four days.
About sixty groups have already confirmed their arrival, including the headliners scheduled for 2020 and 2021.
Never two without three ? Certainly not. In any case, this is what the organization of the Main Square festival in Arras is hoping for. The last two physical editions having been canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic, the organizers have decided to extend the programming both in terms of guest artists and in terms of duration. See you at the end of June 2022.
“In order to compensate a little for the absence of recent years, this 16th edition of the Main Square festival will take place over four days,” the organization announced on Thursday.
One more day than usual essential to stall the many groups that will come to perform, but this is not the only reason.
Many festival-goers had already purchased their tickets for the two previous editions before they were canceled.
If they had been offered to be reimbursed, many had decided to keep their sesames, valid for the following year.
No less than 50,000 have a ticket for Main Square 2022 even before the ticket office opens.
Sting, Black Eyed Peas and Twenty one pilots…
In addition to the loyalty of festival-goers, the Main Square can count on that of the artists. Sting, Black Eyed Peas and Twenty one pilots, announced in 2020 or 2021, have confirmed their coming for next year. The organization also unveiled more than fifty new groups to "constitute almost all of the programming". Among the most famous names, we can cite DJ Snake, Angèle, SCH, Niska, Vald, Pixies, Skip the use, Sum 41… And so many others.
The place does not change and it is still the citadel of Arras which will shake to the rhythm of the big sound between June 30 and July 3, 2022. The ticket office is open with prices ranging from 54 euros per day in mode normal, at 200 euros for a day ticket on a VIP terrace.
There is no 4-day pass, but only a 3-day pass, offered between 129 and 600 euros.
For festival-goers in possession of 2020 or 2021 tickets, the organization specifies that their tickets are valid for the day chosen at the time.
For example, a ticket purchased for Friday July 3, 2020 or Friday July 2, 2021 is valid for Friday July 1, 2022.
