More than 1.2 million people have made an appointment for a booster dose of the anti-Covid vaccine on Thursday in the wake of the announcements by Minister of Health Olivier Véran, the Doctolib platform said on Friday.

The peak is almost as high as after the announcement of the health pass in July.

“More than 1.2 million French people made an appointment yesterday on Doctolib for a booster injection,” the main platform for medical appointments announced on Friday morning.

About 1.35 million reservations had been recorded on July 13, the day after the announcement of the health pass.

In the week following Emmanuel Macron's summer address, Doctolib had recorded 4.3 million appointments, and the number of injections had peaked at nearly 4.8 million, a record unmatched since.

A new influx is expected with the opening of the reminder campaign to all adults from Saturday, this additional dose becoming necessary to maintain a valid health pass beyond 7 months after the last injection or a Covid infection. -19.

To date, more than 6 million people have received this "third dose" and 19 million are eligible, a number set to increase as nearly 52 million have received at least one injection.
