The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to take special measures to reduce the burden of industrial accident insurance premiums paid by companies in cases where the new coronavirus is infected in the workplace and is recognized as an industrial accident.

Workers' accident compensation insurance provides medical treatment costs and leave compensation when an employee is injured or sick at work, and the company bears the insurance premium.

Companies with a lot of work-related accidents have a system to raise the insurance premium rate of work-related accident insurance, and companies with a series of work-related accidents due to workplace infections will have a heavy burden of insurance premiums, and there is concern that it will affect medical institutions and long-term care facilities in particular. I am.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to establish a policy to establish special measures to reduce the burden on companies, and submitted a draft amendment to the ministerial ordinance to the council made up of representatives of labor and management held on the 26th.

The insurance premium rate for the next fiscal year will be calculated based on the amount of work-related accidents for the three years up to last year, but the amendment does not include cases where employees are infected at work and are recognized as work-related accidents. ..

A member of the council commented, "There is concern about the re-expansion of the infection, and we should continue to seek infection control in the workplace." However, there was no dissenting opinion and the amendment was approved.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will soon revise and enforce the ministerial ordinance.

This is the second time that the same special measures for workers' accident compensation insurance have been applied to the work accidents caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
