Critic: The war on festival performers is funny.. Abdel Halim hit him with tomatoes

The Egyptian art critic Tariq El-Shennawy considered that the decision of the Syndicate of Musical Professions in Egypt to ban the work of a large number of festival singers should be away from the syndicate, and it is assumed that they are able to taste all colors, because it is not a union of one color.

Al-Shennawi stressed that the union has the right to select its members, but it does not have the right to prevent them from singing, especially since we find the mother of the bride singing in popular weddings as a tradition among some, so will the union ban them, considering that the story is funny.

Al-Shennawi asked, in statements to Al-Arabiya, whether Hani Shaker is against this type of singing or against these singers and not others, and it is strange that this is happening and the Arab world is receiving these singers naturally.

Al-Shennawi stressed that he has become accustomed to the fact that any new color that appears is attacked, as not everyone becomes familiar with the new quickly.

He cited what happened with the late Abdel Halim Hafez when he was singing in his beginnings the song "Safini Marra", and the audience attacked him with tomatoes and eggs and expelled him from the stage.

As well as what Mohamed Abdel Wahab did in rejecting the youth song, and he said at the time a famous sentence, “People listen with feet and not with conscience,” but then quickly merged with the new wave.

Al-Shennawi recalled what was happening in the past, when he published a picture of Abdel Halim Hafez in the magazine "Rosa Youssef", and its hero was Abdel Halim Hafez, singing "Al-Sah Al-Dah Ambo" for Adawiya, and at that time Halim came out to deny and confirm that it was a fabricated picture.

But he returned after that and started singing it after everyone composed the color that Adawiya presented, and Muhammad Abdel Wahab himself developed and digested the youth song, and although he was little going out and staying up late, he used to go to a nightclub in the early hours of the morning to listen to Adawiya.

Al-Shennawi recalled what happened to Hamid Al-Shaeri when he appeared to lead a large generation of singers, and at that time he was severely attacked before the audience and musicians became accustomed to him.
