The visit of the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church to the Vatican to the Pope, scheduled for December 9, is "postponed", announced Thursday the president of the commission, Jean-Marc Sauvé.

A good part of the 22 members of the Ciase was to be received in audience by Pope Francis on the morning of December 9, with the officials of the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF) and of the Conference of Religious and Religious of France (Corref) .

"New dates are under study," said the CEF.

This meeting was to take place two months after the shocking revelations of Ciase, which estimated at 330,000 the number of people over 18 years of age who have been the subject of sexual violence since 1950, when they were minors, by clerics, religious or people in connection with the Church.

For his part, the Sovereign Pontiff, who will be 85 in December, has planned to visit the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and then Greece from December 2 to 6.
