With the fifth wave, the Covid-19 is once again in the news.

New questions arise, to which Nathan Peiffer-Smadja, head of clinic and infectious disease specialist at Bichat hospital, answers.

Why do some people get Covid-19 when they are vaccinated?

“Vaccines prevent severe forms, but for infections without symptoms, their effectiveness is around 50%, which reduces the risk of getting infected but does not cancel it.

"

Is the third dose useful for everyone?

According to the doctor, three doses are not enough for people who are immunocompromised, transplanted, elderly or frail.

However, “it is possible that this third dose will be useful for everyone and that it will strengthen the vaccine shield and make it last over time.

"

Who are the people hospitalized because of the Covid-19?

“We see people who are not vaccinated, it is a good part of the people who are admitted with severe Covid.

There are also frail people, with other illnesses or treatments.
