Le Pal, the amusement and animal park of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Besbre (Allier), will welcome new residents this winter.

Several specimens will arrive as part of an exchange program with other zoos in Europe, explains

.

For example, a male red panda called Hopi is expected at the end of the year from the Flamingo Road Zoo in Malton (United Kingdom).

He will join Naoki, a female of the same species already residing at PAL.

The Touroparc zoo, in Saône-et-Loire, will send a female Rothschild giraffe and antelopes of the species of Mrs Gray's cone and cervicapres.

Previously, two Patagonian hares will be transferred from Paris on November 30.

A greater kudu antelope will complete the list of newcomers.

Departures for Brazil and UK

The Pal has also planned to let some of its animals go to zoos participating in the exchange system.

A bush dog will make the trip to Brazil while a seal calf will go to live in the United Kingdom.

Transfers of these animals are organized under the aegis of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP).

The objective is to promote reproduction and to establish a file to avoid inbreeding.
