While Slovakia has one of the highest Coronavirus contamination rates in the world, the country decided on Wednesday to impose a partial two-week lockdown on its citizens.

With a few exceptions, residents will only be allowed to leave their homes at night, between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The Slovak government has clarified that restaurants and non-essential shops will be closed from Thursday.

Schools remain open.

“Schools will be the last to close.

We want them to stay open.

We are also in favor of making tests in schools compulsory, ”said Minister of the Economy Richard Sulik.

The evolution of these restrictions will depend on the epidemic situation of the country.

The minister told reporters that the government would do "a new assessment in ten days."
