- We are talking about the biggest book success ever in terms of Swedish book exports that will be taken further and it is, if anything, a difficult task.

But I think it's worth a try, says Jonas Axelsson, publisher at Bokförlaget Polaris.

The publisher has acquired the rights to Millennium 7-9 from Moggliden, which manages Stieg Larsson's copyright and is represented by Hedlund Literary Agency.

"We are pleased to have agreed with Polaris on the next step for the Millennium.

During the process, they have impressed by combining enthusiasm and a wealth of ideas with an understanding of the Millennium world, ”says the Larsson family's representative Magdalena Hedlund.

"Is a challenge"

The detective trilogy about the hacker Lisbeth Salander and the journalist Mikael Blomkvist was published in the middle of the 00's and quickly became popular.

In 2013, the author David Lagercrantz took over and wrote three more books in the series.

To date, the Millennium series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and has been published in more than 50 countries.

- If you manage to pick up what Stieg Larsson achieved in his core, the universe he conjured up with characters that are unforgettable, especially perhaps Lisbeth Salander.

And when David Lagercrantz managed to take it further in three books, I have asked myself as a publisher if it is not possible to tell further stories about these characters with the same passion and focus.

I actually think it is possible but it is not easy, says Jonas Axelsson.

According to the publisher, who will write the three follow-up books will be presented shortly.
