According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, 80.7% of companies are planning to raise or raise wages, which is 0.8 points lower than last year and has decreased for the second consecutive year due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

From July to August, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare surveyed companies with 100 or more employees and received responses from 1708 companies.



According to this, 80.7% of companies plan to raise or raise wages by "regular salary increase" according to age and experience and "base increase" to raise basic salary.



This is 0.8 points lower than last year's survey, the second consecutive year of decline.



Looking at the companies that are raising or planning to raise wages by industry, the highest is "Academic research, professional / technical service industry" such as consulting industry at 93.7%, followed by "Real estate industry, goods leasing industry" at 93.2%. "Manufacturing industry" is 90.7%.



On the other hand, "accommodation and food service" accounted for 56.5%, and "transportation and postal services" such as buses and taxis accounted for 64.5%.



According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "As the effects of the new coronavirus continue, there are differences in wage increases depending on the industry. We would like to keep an eye on trends in wage increases."
