Regarding bird flu, which was confirmed at a poultry farm in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture for the first time this season, the prefecture announced that a series of epidemic prevention measures such as slaughter of chickens and disinfection of poultry houses have been completed.

A highly pathogenic "H5N8 type" avian influenza virus was confirmed at a poultry farm in Yokote City on the 10th of this month.



The prefecture slaughtered all about 144,500 chickens on the poultry farm last week to prevent the spread of the infection.



Since then, I have been working on burying chickens, compost, feed, etc. in the soil, cleaning and disinfecting poultry houses.



According to the prefecture, such a series of epidemic prevention measures were completed at 11:30 am on the 20th.



No new bird flu infections have been confirmed in other poultry farms in Akita Prefecture until the 20th.



If no infection is confirmed in the surrounding area, the measures prohibiting the shipment of chickens, etc. within a radius of 3 to 10 km centering on the poultry farm will be lifted on the 1st of next month, and within a radius of 3 km. The measures prohibiting the movement of chickens and the like will be lifted on the 12th of next month.
