The Secours Catholique du Loiret is mobilizing against the ever-growing number of applicants.
In 2020, between 5 and 7 million people had recourse to food aid in France.
In the department, no less than 2,000 beneficiaries with varied profiles have been recorded, reports France Bleu Orléans.
The branch of the department has decided "to ensure that people in precariousness can have quality products", explains to our colleagues Dominique Guy, president of Secours Catholique in the Loiret. "We are trying to find a compromise by making links between local producers and people in precariousness so that everyone can find their way", adds Emmanuel Barbier, delegate for Secours Catholique du Loiret. This is why the association turned to a producer from Saint-Cyr en Val.
The latter will provide products to the beneficiaries of the association.
A partnership of 20,000 euros, in the form of orders, has been established.
A first in France.
And in the basket provided: vegetables, fruit, “mainly apples and pears because they keep”.
In addition: six fresh eggs, soups and fruit juices, depending on the season.
