The prefect of Haut-Rhin Louis Laugier chose this Friday to make it compulsory to wear a protective mask against Covid-19 in the Christmas markets of the department.
These will welcome the public from the end of November and will close their doors at the end of December, or even the beginning of January for some.
Adults and children aged 11 and over will have to comply with this rule, says Actu Haut-Rhin.
"Several hundred thousand visitors" are concerned, specifies the press release from the prefecture.
The state representative explained that he had made his decision in consultation with the regional health agency (ARS).
He also mentioned "the health situation marked by an acceleration of the circulation of the virus in the department".
The phenomenon has also led to several precautionary measures.
Mask requested in Mulhouse and near busy places
People going to places with access subject to the health pass must keep their masks there.
The obligation to wear the protective accessory "in the city center of Mulhouse as well as in the vicinity of high-traffic establishments (stations, schools, etc.)" is extended until January 3, 2022 inclusive.
"Respect for wearing a mask associated with barrier gestures is essential to fight against the spread of the virus", finally reminded Louis Laugier.
