From next month, Miyazaki Prefecture will start an initiative to put free sanitary napkins in the toilets of all prefectural schools.

This summer, the Miyazaki Prefectural Board of Education made efforts to place sanitary napkins that anyone can use in toilets and other places for six weeks at seven prefectural schools in the prefecture, and more than 1,500 were used.

In the questionnaire survey asking the reason for use, there were many such as "I forgot to bring it", while there were also voices such as "It is difficult to buy sanitary napkins" although the ratio is small.

In response to this, from the beginning of next month, we decided to start installation at all prefectural schools, including 36 prefectural high schools and special schools.

There has been a method of preparing sanitary napkins in the infirmary and handing them over when requested by students, but we have made all efforts to put them in the private room of the toilet so that they can be picked up without worrying about other people's eyes when in trouble. This is the first time for me to proceed at school in Kyushu / Okinawa.

Masaki Yano, who is in charge of health education at the Miyazaki Prefectural Board of Education, said, "We decided to deploy it so that we could lead a healthy school life with peace of mind. I want them to deepen their understanding of physiology. "
