The semi-final of the eleventh season of
Dance with the Stars
is offered this Friday on TF1.
Aurélie Pons, Michou, Bilal Hassani and Tayc do not all have the same level, which somewhat contradicts the words of the judges before the competition starts.
"If you are good, you pass and if you are not good, you go home," promised Chris Marques, who had certainly not taken into account the enormous popularity of certain candidates.
Does the
semi-final of
Dance with the stars
have more suspense in store for us than a
Koh-Lanta
orientation test
?
This eventuality has been emerging for several weeks as the competition draws to a close.
This Friday, four couples will face each other on the floor and three of them will advance to the final scheduled for next week on TF1.
Two singers, an actress and a YouTuber remain in the running.
As one would expect at the launch of the eleventh season, Tayc and Bilal Hassani, aided by their stage abilities, flew over the competition by offering almost every week performances that stood out from those of their comrades.
The presence of Aurélie Pons and Michou in the semifinals, for its part, may seem a little more surprising.
Face-to-face regulars
Mathematically speaking, the two candidates recorded performances below that of their competitors.
Aurélie Pons had to face the face-to-face test five times (out of a total of eight weeks) and recorded the worst performance of the evening three times.
For his part, Michou played his place in four head-to-head.
Saved on numerous occasions, Aurélie Pons and Michou can count on the community that supports them: that of fans of the
Ici Tout Begins series
(and its three million daily viewers) for the actress and that of her nearly seven million of subscribers for the youtuber.
"He expected to be supported because he knows how much his community and him are united, we tell
20 Minutes
in the entourage of the one who has been protected four times.
But maybe not as much because it's a TV show and therefore another platform.
“In an Instagram story published a few days ago, Michou also warned that voting by SMS cost those who saved him money.
Proof that the YouTuber has brought together two worlds that do not come together too closely.
The limit of the full power of judges
But is not this enthusiasm of the fans of each of the communities a pebble in the shoe of the show? Before the season starts, Chris Marques said: "if you are good, you pass and if you are not good, you go home", he had promised during the press conference to present the season. . Looking back, that would mean that Dita von Teese was therefore not good enough for the rest of the competition.
“We noticed over time that the popularity with which each artist arrived was often the immediate guarantee of results over time,” continues Chris Marques. Clearly, some of the competitors who reach the final are classified on their podium thanks to the mobilization of their fans each year. In order to overcome this problem, the production had decided to "refocus the judges at the heart of the program", in the words of Frédéric Pedraza, deputy general manager in charge of content at TF1 Production. Positive buzz to immunize a couple, negative buzz to send a pair as a last chance, rescue of a duo during the face-to-face, several mechanics have been tested over the weeks.
"I think we can eliminate any feeling of injustice," confided, serene, Chris Marques at the dawn of this new season.
The statistics (namely the jury's notes) nevertheless show that Gérémy Crédeville and Dita von Teese had a better level than Michou and Aurélien according to the four judges.
Tayc, the only candidate to have never been in danger
In order to keep control over the course of the competition, the members of the jury will have control over a good part of the semi-final. This Friday, the four duets will each dance in turn in a first round which the judges will decide thanks to their scores. Whoever performs the best performance will automatically qualify for the final. During the second round, another couple will again be saved by the judges. In the final minutes, the two remaining pairs will be put to the vote of the public and only one of them will continue the competition.
It is therefore still not this week that the competitors will all be decided by the public.
If he gets again one of the two best marks from the jury, Tayc will never have been put to the public vote.
Although elements allowing good students to go as far as possible have been put in place, the system has not been flawless since Aurélie Pons, who has nevertheless fallen twice on the floor this season, eliminated candidates who are technically better than her.
Only the final will be the occasion to tie the hands of the judges who will no longer have any impact on the choice of the winner.
