As a result of the labor union's investigation of the current situation of "in-hospital nursery schools" that take care of the children of medical staff working in hospitals, they answered that they will continue until the parents are picked up from among the nursery schools that carry out extended childcare after the park is closed. Was about 60%, an increase of more than 12 points from last year's survey.

The labor union is appealing for improvement of treatment, saying that the burden on nursery teachers working at in-hospital nursery schools is increasing due to the long working hours of medical staff due to the corona disaster.

This survey was conducted by the labor union "Japan Medical Labor Union" = Japan Medical Labor Union Federation from March to May.

Among the in-hospital nurseries that take care of children such as doctors and nurses working in hospitals, 157 facilities nationwide responded.

According to this, 82.2% of the children are doing "extended childcare" after the park is closed, an increase of 4.2 points from last year's survey.

Of these, 60.5% answered that they would do it until they were picked up by their parents, which was 12.1 points higher than last year.

The labor union analyzes that the background is the long working hours of medical workers due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

In addition, 69.4% of respondents answered that they "feel a mental burden" when it comes to working at Corona.

Some people said, "I'm worried because I don't know how thorough infection control measures should be taken" and "I feel a prejudice against taking care of the children of medical staff."

Mari Kawakami, Deputy Secretary General of the Medical Workers' Federation, said, "In many cases, the wage level of nursery teachers working in in-hospital nursery schools is lower than that of licensed nursery schools. In order to continue working with peace of mind while raising children, it is necessary to improve the treatment of those who work at in-hospital nursery schools. "
