This is the debate that has occupied social networks and television sets since the emergence of a fifth wave of the epidemic.

The occupancy rate of hospital beds is closely monitored by the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (Dress), attached to the Ministry of Health, which distinguishes two categories.
Conventional hospitalizations and those in critical care, which include in particular resuscitation and intensive care.
The population studied is that of people over 20 years old.
The latest statistics available are for the period from 25 to 31 October 2021.The Dress found that the number of critical care admissions for unvaccinated people is stable. The latter represent 51% of admissions in critical care, and 44% in conventional hospitalization. During this last week of October, the proportion of people admitted to critical care and who received a complete vaccination schedule represents 42% in critical care and 48% in conventional hospitalization. The proportion of unvaccinated people who entered intensive care during the last available week is therefore higher than that of people who received their injections.
But for the comparison to be fully relevant, it is necessary to compare groups of people of equal size, the number of people vaccinated being far greater than that of the unvaccinated. "For a comparable population size, there are approximately 9 times more entries into critical care [over the period from 25 to 31 October] among unvaccinated people than among those who are fully vaccinated aged 20 and over", emphasizes the Dress.
As the doctors have pointed out since the start of the vaccination campaign, the bite makes it possible to limit contaminations and serious forms, without preventing them 100%.
