[Explanation] Lin Buran from Canada is a doctoral student in the Department of Ancient Chinese Literature at Jiangxi Normal University. He has both studied in China for his undergraduate and graduate studies. He has been translating his favorite ancient Chinese poems since 2015. In the past ten hours of "Punch" in creation, more than a thousand songs have been translated now.

A few days ago, in a three-story private house in the old city of Nanchang, the reporter followed Lin Buran into his studio where he usually creates and lives. In a room of several square meters, a desk made of wooden boards is stacked A workbench composed of rice paper, brushes, paints, books, and computers.

There are many completed works stacked next to the ground floor in the corner. Among them, the translation of "The Shao Shi Ming" is placed in a conspicuous position, and the accompanying painting is Lin Buran's self-portrait.

According to Lin Buyan, in the process of professional study, I felt the magic of Chinese and the beauty of ancient Chinese poetry.

In the past six years, it was in such a slightly rudimentary studio that more than a thousand ancient Chinese poems were translated into English by Lin Buran, and they were then bound into a book with brush paintings.

I can get a deeper understanding of the subjects of my research through translation. I think Nalan (Xingde) and Li Shangyin's are also my favorites. I think the language he uses is beautiful, with a sense of picture (very strong).

[Explanation] In Lin Buyan's view, some names, place names, and allusions are difficult points in translation, and he will replace them with concepts similar to those in the West.

In fact, what I translated is quite abstract, not very straightforward.

Just like this "Sumi", because it can be said to be a place name, just like his original translation, ordinary foreigners will not understand it, so what I translated is "magic mountain", which is the legendary highest mountain in the world.

[Explanation] Lin Buran said that he often brings his works to various places to participate in offline exhibitions, and is also favored by literature lovers from different countries. He also hopes that he can contribute to the cultural exchanges between China and the West in this way.

I often show it and sell it. In fact, I don’t want my work to accumulate, so I mainly participate in some art book fairs and festivals. Indeed, many foreigners like to watch it, so I think this can be regarded as a kind of promotion. It is (Chinese) ancient literature.

[Explanation] Speaking of future plans and plans, Lin Buyan said that he would like to stay in China, translate ancient poems he loves, and hope to develop this hobby into a career.

Ancient Chinese can be said to be learned in a lifetime. The ideal thing is that I can live by drawing and writing.
