"Midas" .. A Turkish cat with 4 ears achieves stardom on the Internet

Midas was born with four ears and a defective jaw due to a genetic mutation during formation, but that did not stop the four-month-old Turkish cat from becoming an internet star with more than 73,000 followers on social media.

The kitten was born in a backyard in Ankara with five siblings and was later adopted by Kanesh Dusimici and her family.

Family members said that they fell in love with Midas at first sight and wanted to host her in their home, out of sympathy for an animal awaiting an unknown fate in light of the poor possibility of finding a sponsor due to its unique condition.

"We never thought about buying a cat. We just wanted to save a cat from the street, and we wanted to adopt it," said Dosimichi, who keeps two Golden Retrievers.

Its name is derived from the character of King Midas in Greek mythology, a king who had the ability to turn anything he touched into gold, but he had the ears of a donkey.

Midas achieved widespread fame on the Internet through social media posts about her daily life with two dogs, Susie and Zeno.

Although Midas looks strange, her condition has not affected her health or her sense of hearing, says veterinarian Risat Nuri Aslan.

What distinguishes Midas is that all four ears are connected to the auditory canal.

Dosimichi said she hopes Midas' popularity will convince people to adopt pets rather than buy them in stores.

"People are so surprised, they can't believe this... Everyone wants to see her, they want pictures of her," she added.

But she noted that "some people are also afraid of it."
