(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Foreign students in Gansu colleges and universities have an exotic heart to their alma mater: Letters send love "short paper and long love"

China News Service, Lanzhou, November 18 (Reporter Liu Yutao) "Come on, alma mater...We are all fine."

In the past few days, Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical University has received some special letters one after another. Their handwriting is slightly immature, but their language is simple and emotional, expressing their worries and concerns for classmates and teachers, and cheering for the front-line anti-epidemic personnel.

"Because of the epidemic, I am in my own country, but I want to return to Lanzhou early every day. Now I heard that the epidemic in Lanzhou is a bit serious. I am very worried. I hope that the epidemic will end soon and Lanzhou will get better so that I can go back to school early." Bai Ke, an international student from Tajikistan, said in the letter.

Since the outbreak of the current round of the epidemic in Gansu, offline teaching has been suspended in Lanzhou universities, students have online classes in bed, and some teachers and students have stayed on the front line of fighting the "epidemic", which has also affected the hearts of many international students.

More than 20 international students from Pakistan, Indonesia, Laos, Tajikistan and other countries sent greetings and blessings to their alma mater in language, text and short videos, expressing their support and miss for their alma mater, teachers and students .

At the beginning of 2020, due to the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, some international students of the school failed to return to the school. For more than a year, they have been adhering to transnational online education.

"Those days of struggling and fighting in school, those classmates who supported each other and encouraged each other, are all beautiful and heart-warming memories of his alma mater." Bai Ke said.

Adistya, an international student from Indonesia, said in the video: "I heard that Lanzhou is sick now. I am very sad. Lanzhou is a very good city. I hope the epidemic will end soon and I miss my teachers and classmates."

These videos and letters spread quickly in the social group of the students of the school, "Everything is getting better in Lanzhou, I miss you too" "Don't worry, the epidemic will pass soon", "Good brother, see you on the court", "We wait for you to come back." ...The students of this school left messages.

Although they cannot attend classes at school, international students often communicate with teachers on video, and teachers also answer questions patiently online.

Multinational "cloud" learning does not affect the desire of international students for professional knowledge, the love of Chinese language and Chinese culture.

Bai Weina, an international student from Laos, left a message on the school’s social platform: “I was unable to arrive at school because of the epidemic. I am fortunate to be able to communicate with teachers and classmates online. My Chinese is also improving. Let’s cheer together and look forward to getting together soon.”

In recent years, Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical University has actively responded to the national "One Belt One Road" initiative, attaching importance to international cooperation and exchanges, and actively expanding international education.

Pioneering development has been achieved in Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, running schools abroad, serving "going global" enterprises, international students in China, and continuous undergraduate and master's degree programs. The projects involve three continents in Asia, Africa, and the United States.

So far, the school has a total of 136 international students, 274 students enrolled in overseas education projects, 96 students enrolled in Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, and the scale of service contracts for "going out" enterprises has reached more than 1,000 people. 15 students have been sent to the program for continuous undergraduate and master's degree programs. Students go abroad for further studies to effectively achieve the purpose of international exchanges, spread Chinese culture, and promote the internationalization of Gansu vocational education.
