In connection with the alleged robbery and murder of a German researcher and his daughter in Paraguay, the police in the South American country have arrested a fourth suspect.

It was a lawyer who had given the victim legal advice for a long time, said the head of the homicide department of the national police, Hugo Grance, on Wednesday (local time) the radio station Monumental.

The 46-year-old's house and that of his mother had been searched by order of the public prosecutor's office.

According to local media reports, documents were found on which the German's signature had been forged. The lawyer had his license withdrawn years ago, said Commissioner Grance. He was noticed by the fact that, after the murder, he insisted on being an adviser to the victim's family, even though he was no longer allowed to practice as a lawyer. What specifically he was accused of was not known.

The bodies of the 62-year-old German and the 14-year-old girl were discovered on October 22nd in the family's home near Areguá, around 30 kilometers southeast of the capital Asunción.

According to forensic doctors, both victims died from gunfire.

After the crime, three Germans had already been arrested as suspects.

As a possible motive, the investigators named the theft of valuable old instruments as well as certificates of their authenticity that the victim possessed.

According to media reports, the German killed was a scientist from Bavaria who had lived in the South American country for several years.

He also dedicated himself to the repair of musical instruments such as violins in the unfinished house in which the crime allegedly took place.
