For 25 years, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been the scene of numerous deadly conflicts.

Fighting which is at the origin of massive population displacements, millions of deaths and, as so often in situations of armed conflict, thousands of women victims of sexual violence.

According to the latest report from Médecins Sans Frontières, a well-established NGO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, nearly 11,000 women victims of sexual violence were treated in one of the health centers supported by MSF in 2020. A figure well below reality as it is so difficult for the survivors to break the silence out of shame or fear of reprisals.

A tragedy that has long-term consequences for these women which can lead them to exclusion and the loss of their livelihood.

How to support them in their fight for justice?

What measures put in place by the Congolese state?
