The movie “Eternals” was banned in Jordan
The Media Authority in Jordan decided to ban the screening of the movie "Eternals", the latest productions of the "Disney group" of the series of superhero movies in the "Marvel world", after the organizers refused to "delete" some scenes.
The authority said in a statement reported by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that it "has decided to ban the screening of the movie "Eternals" in all cinemas in the Kingdom since the tenth of this month, due to the failure of the film's manufacturer and distributor to conditionally delete its license before the show."
She pointed out that "the decision came after the film's manufacturer refused to delete some scenes that do not comply with the system of audio-visual works, in addition to changing the age classification of the shown film."
The authority confirmed that "the film will never be shown in any of the cinemas in the Kingdom."
In its statement, the commission did not give more details about what these scenes were banned from showing, but the work is causing controversy in the Arab region recently because of accusations of supporting homosexuality in some of its scenes.
Jordan's decision comes after press information in the past few days about similar decisions to ban the film in other Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt.
The film, signed by Oscar-winning director Chloe Gao, includes a constellation of stars, including actresses Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Gemma Chan, in addition to "Game of Thrones" star Richard Madden.
It revolves around a battalion of time-traveling superheroes who are sent from an outside force to Earth to protect humanity.
