The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has again increased significantly.

As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Tuesday morning, citing data from the health authorities, the value increased to 312.4 and thus reached a new high for the ninth day in a row.

The previous day the incidence was 303.0.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

On Monday of last week, the value had exceeded the threshold of 200, which had been the highest level since the beginning of the pandemic.

Since then, new highs have been recorded every day.

According to the latest information from the RKI, 32,048 new coronavirus infections and 265 further deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded within 24 hours.

The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the start of the pandemic rose to 5,077,124, the total number of recorded deaths in connection with a corona infection to 97,980.
