One year after the death of the former President of the Republic Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, a commemorative stamp will be sold from November 22 in most post offices in France.

It will also be available in preview in a specialized Parisian store and at the town hall of Chamalières (Puy-de-Dôme), says

La Montagne

.

This is where the politician announced his candidacy for the presidential election in 1974. For the occasion, a temporary post office will open its doors from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 November between 10 am and 5 pm.

The release of the stamp will be accompanied by multiple events.

Conference by Jean-Pierre Raffarin

Collectors can, for example, have the stamp canceled with a “First day” stamp.

A “philatelic” document will be available from November 19.

With 5,000 copies printed, it will feature the original pasted and canceled stamp, an explanatory text, the imprint of the original hallmark, an engraving and a dry stamp printing.

An exhibition on the former Presidents of the Republic will also be organized by the Philapostel d'Auvergne association.

Former minister Dominique Bussereau and Jean-Pierre Raffarin will give a conference on November 20 in the courtyard of the town hall.
