Dubai Design District has announced two new strategic partnerships with Zayed University and the American University of Sharjah, with the aim of establishing Dubai as a global center for attracting and empowering brilliant minds and talents in the fields of design and fashion.

The neighborhood, which is a global destination for arts, architecture, fashion and design, will provide training courses for students and graduates, in cooperation with the most prominent design companies in the neighborhood, in addition to supporting the efforts of universities in events that promote the knowledge-based economy and innovation in the UAE. The neighborhood will provide spaces in the sixth and seventh buildings to display the projects of students of the College of Arts and Creative Industries at Zayed University. It will also allow for posters during the event, and will support major student-focused events throughout the year, as it is home to the most prominent international companies, talents, entrepreneurs and startups in the fields of design and fashion.

On the other hand, Zayed University and the American University of Sharjah will present an annual program of events, exhibitions, workshops and other activities to be held in the Dubai Design District.

The two universities will also hold an annual alumni fair each spring, and will work with the neighborhood to develop a program of courses for students and alumni.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Executive Director of Dubai Design District, said: “We are committed to attracting and supporting ambitious talent, and to consolidating the emirate’s position as a global creative center in line with the vision of the wise leadership and the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy.

Talented and creative students are an integral part of the Dubai Design District system, as they are the future of our country and the source of innovative and new ideas.

Our strategic partnerships with Zayed University and the American University of Sharjah will empower the next generation of designers to advance the future of our knowledge and innovation-based economy.”

For his part, Dean of the College of Arts and Creative Industries at Zayed University, Dr. Kevin Badney, said: “Our cooperation with Dubai Design District (d3) is part of our strategic goals of providing collaborative links with our strategic partners, and represents a promising opportunity to support Zayed University students and graduates.”
