When Adele posted a photo of herself in a minidress in March, after months of suspicion about her weight loss, reactions were more than mixed.

Many have accused the

Easy On Me performer

of giving in to Hollywood pressure (where she currently lives) and the dictates of the entertainment industry.

Or even cause additional discomfort in overweight people.

The singer had remained silent, but with the release of her new album,

30

, she passed on the couch of Oprah Winfrey who asked her the question bluntly: "Why did you lose weight?

"

The answer: that was not the point.

“I mainly managed my anxiety by playing sports.

I had the worst panic attacks after my separation - it confused me and I felt like I had lost control of my body.

I noticed how much confidence I had when my trainer was there when I felt lost, but also I no longer had anxiety when I was in the gym.

It became my time to have something to do every day when I had nothing planned for my days, ”she said.

Not his job

Adele also explained that when she found herself raising her child on her own, she realized that she had "a lot of work" to do on her own. And to achieve this, she "stopped alcohol" and did "a lot of sport". “Stuff like that to keep me balanced,” she added.

The criticisms, she heard them well, but was "neither shocked nor disturbed".

“My body has been detailed my whole career.

Am I too fat or too skinny, am I sexy or not?

No matter.

I have never been inspired by anyone because of their physique.

I was proud of my body before, and I am now.

It's not my job to validate how others feel about their own body.

It makes me sad to know that some people have felt bad about themselves (because of my weight loss), but it's not my job, ”concluded the British star.
