New feature: Instagram will advise the user every 10 minutes to "take a break and come back"!

The social networking application Instagram has begun testing a new feature called “Take a Break” (Take a Break) with the aim of encouraging users to temporarily stop browsing the application that specializes in displaying images and short videos, owned by Meta, the parent company of the Facebook network.

And the website Cnet.com, which specializes in technology issues, quoted Adam Mosseri, CEO of the Instagram application, as saying that the new feature will remind the user of the need to take a break from browsing after a specified period, which may be 10, 20 or 30 minutes. The alert displayed by the app will offer several suggestions for taking a break, such as taking a deep breath, writing down what the user is thinking, listening to a favorite song, or doing something on the user's to-do list.

Mosseri said that the new feature is expected to appear among users on the Instagram test lists in the next few days, and that it will be rolled out on a larger scale next December.

This new feature comes on the heels of the latest controversy surrounding Meta's parent company.

And earlier this year, Frances Hoggin, the former production director at Facebook, leaked thousands of documents from the giant social network, which led to congressional meetings about Facebook practices, as well as reports of the harmful effects of the Instagram application on young users, especially teenagers.

In September, Instagram suspended its children's Instagram Kids service, claiming it gave more time to develop more tools to help parents monitor children's browsing of the app.
