The controversy does not fall.

Fifteen days after the hunting accident which cost the life of a 67-year-old motorist not far from Rennes, several mayors of the sector took the floor to denounce "the inaction of the public authorities in terms of regulating hunting".

Led by the mayor of Laillé, already concerned by a cat attack by a pack of dogs in her town in September, several elected officials spoke in order to "make things happen".

“We are not anti-hunting, we are not pro-hunting.

We want to change practices, ”said Françoise Louapre.

Friday, the mayor of Laillé had banned the use of rifles throughout his town, as well as a ban on hunting within 150 m of homes.

According to her, "hunters themselves are worried about the use of increasingly powerful rifles by hunters who do not have sufficient qualifications."

It was a 9.3 mm caliber rifle fire that killed a 67-year-old motorist who was traveling between Nantes and Rennes.

The alleged shooter was indicted for manslaughter.

"There are stray shots that are unacceptable," said Philippe Salmon, mayor of Bruz.

"I regret that we have no answer"

A hundred people demonstrated on Saturday afternoon in front of the town hall of Laillé to demand more drastic measures to limit hunting.

“For us (this municipal decree), it is a step forward but it is not enough.

We want it to go much further, "said Jimmy Nedellec, of the Forest Shepherd collective, which calls in particular for a" moratorium on hunting in the town "and a ban on shooting within 500 meters of the gardens.

In a letter addressed to the prefect and to the Minister of Ecological Transition, the same elected officials had called for “reinforced medical control” for all hunters, as for other sports.

“We are trying to make things happen so that the State takes its responsibilities.

I regret that we have no response, ”commented Michel Delmolder, mayor of Pont-Péan.
