The death of a businessman who traveled to space last month

 CBS News, citing police, reported that Glenn De Vries, a businessman who flew into space last month, died in a small plane crash in New Jersey.

De Vries had blasted into space with actor William Shatner aboard a vehicle operated by Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin.


The report indicated that the plane crashed in Sussex, and that de Vries and another man, Thomas Fisher, were killed.

CBS said the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident.


"We are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Glenn De Vries," Blue Origin wrote on Twitter.

He brought so much life and energy to the entire Blue Origin team and his crewmates.”
