Recently, more than 30,000 flat snouts were released into Xinjiang Bosten Lake, which is China’s largest inland freshwater huff and puff lake.

Commonly known as "big head fish" and "water giant panda", flat-snout fish is a rare and indigenous fish that is unique to China and only distributed in the Tarim River Basin in Xinjiang. In 1988, it was listed as a first-class endangered wildlife by the state.

The fish released this time have a body length of 15 to 30 cm and a weight of 30 to 50 grams, and their specifications are larger than in previous years.

Bosten Lake is located in the Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Bayingoleng, Xinjiang. In recent years, through the implementation of special measures during the closed fishing season, artificial replenishment and release, and publicity of fishery laws and regulations, the number of fish populations in Bosten Lake has been effectively increased, and the fishery resources of Bosten Lake have been effectively protected. The ecological environment continues to improve.
