The outcome of the second round

of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers

in Qatar, Africa zone, is approaching.

For Zambia, the first half of the work to be done on Saturday is done: Mauritania has been beaten.

This was the minimum to accomplish so that coach Beston Chambeshi and his players can still believe in a place among the 10 play-offs who will compete for the five tickets for the World Cup.

Sakala sees triple for Zambia suspended from Tunisia result

In Lusaka, Mauritania, the red lantern of Group B, was quickly overwhelmed by the Chipolopolo. Patson Daka, the Leicester City striker in England, scored the first goal in the chest (34th). Then, Fashion Sakala, who plays in Scotland at Rangers Glasgow, signed a hat-trick, including a penalty goal (37th, 45th + 1, 63rd). A real offensive festival for a nation which had only found the net three times in its first four matches.

The first half of the work is therefore done.

In the standings, Zambia takes second place in Group B with 7 points, far ahead of Mauritania, fourth with 1 point.

Now the Zambians must pray that Tunisia, leader with 10 points, lose to Equatorial Guinea (third with 7 points).

If the Tunisians lose on Saturday, Zambia will still be able to take first place on the 6th and final day.

If the Tunisians win or draw against Equatorial Guinea, they will be sure to see the third round.

Cameroon walks and sends a message to Ivory Coast

The two-man match continues between Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire, the only two teams still in the race for qualification.

And the Indomitable Lions put pressure on the Elephants by crushing Malawi while healing their goal difference in Johannesburg, the scene of a one-sided game.

Toni Conceição's Cameroonians were ruthless in winning 4-0.

After the expulsion of John Banda for a hand on the goal line, Cameroon, in numerical superiority, opened the scoring by Vincent Aboubakar on penalty (22nd).

André-Franck Zambo Anguissa, the midfielder of Naples, signed the goal of the break before the break of a beautiful powerful half-volley (42nd).

And in the second half, Christian Bassogog, who came into play for the last 20 minutes, got his double (85th, 87th).

From now on, it is up to Côte d'Ivoire to respond.

The Ivorians face off against Mozambique on Saturday with extra pressure on their shoulders.

Cameroon has, at least provisionally, taken control of Group D with 12 points, and a goal difference of +8.

Côte d'Ivoire, 2nd in the group with 10 points and a goal difference of +5, can regain the lead.

This would be very beneficial to him, because a Cameroon-Ivory Coast explosive is looming on November 16.
