Egyptian musician Helmy Bakr launched a sharp attack on singer Omar Kamal, after he announced the allocation of part of his recently opened singing company, to the production of Quran tapes with the voices of new reciters.

Bakr told Al-Watan newspaper: "We do not find a need to do it. We know the need when you come to travel to do what they are doing now."

He asked: "I mean, what do you want to produce the Holy Qur'an? Will it be withheld or what?"

Enough of us left, we were destroyed, that's called disgust.”

Singer Omar Kamal had expressed to "Al-Watan" his intention to produce Quran tapes with the voices of new reciters, stressing that this step had been on his mind for some time, and he found the time to implement it through his company, which he founded 8 months ago.
