Bride forces wedding guests to pay $99 for food per person

The best part about going to the wedding is the sumptuous and delicious food that you can enjoy for free!

But what if you are asked to pay for food?

The question may be confusing and did not cross your mind, but this is what actually happened when the bride asked her guests this strange request.

In the wedding invitation, the bride asked her guests to pay $99 each, as the couple could not afford the reception.

The strange story emerged after a Reddit user recounted her experience when she was invited to her friend's wedding next year.

She revealed how in the wedding invitation the bride asked guests to pay $99 for wedding food.

The invitation states, “We are unable to buy food, so the banquet will be $99 per person.” The bride’s friend commented, “It is also a 4 hour drive from us and no children, so we need to pay for gas, accommodation, clothes and a babysitter.” And the food we eat at the wedding.

The anonymous woman went on to say that the bride and groom did not have an open buffet.

Many angry users said they would never go to such a wedding, while others saw the futility of having an expensive reception as long as the couple did not have the cost.

One user commented, "Why do people always think a wedding is a good reason to go over budget? There is no justification for food to cost $99 per person at a wedding (assuming there's no open buffet - but who knows). If someone asks me to pay for The wedding meal, I'll take it from his wedding gift. He's just a despicable person."

Another criticized the couple, saying, "How they get their guests to pay for the whole wedding. You'll probably pay for the wedding hall rent too. You get decent food for $20 a plate, so they're trying to make people pay for the whole wedding."

A third wrote: "I hope they enjoy a reception without guests. I don't pay $99 when I go to a restaurant where I can choose what I want, so how am I going to pay $99 for someone else's pre-set menu, I wouldn't pay that amount to go to a wedding."

In a similar bizarre incident, a couple forced their wedding guests to wash the dishes when they opted for "self-catering" after going over their budget at an "expensive" place.
