Five architectural companies presented their engineering projects that highlight their perception of the features of Dubai during the next 20 years, as part of the "Dubai Urban Plan 2040", launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The projects are presented in the second edition of the regional architecture forum that was held in the "Dubai Design District" and entitled "D3: 2040", as part of the activities of Dubai Design Week, and it bears many plans aimed at making infrastructure more humane, and focuses on reducing rates Heat and linking infrastructure to history.

The CEO of Perak Engineering, Sawsan Perak, spoke to "Emirates Today" about the vision of the project, which provides a complete study of the infrastructure in Dubai, and said: "The infrastructure extends over the entirety of Dubai. Sheikh Zayed Road cuts Dubai from north to south, and the goal of the project was That Dubai be continuous from east to west, i.e. from Dubai Design District to the Jumeirah area, so that the infrastructure is provided in a way that encourages walking and the places are connected to each other, so that the infrastructure is more humane.” Perak noted that the project is based on creating a social life in the city, and allows for more contemplation through places where there are shades and spaces designated for walking and the use of means of transportation other than cars.

On the way to add infrastructure, she indicated that the project’s goal is to reach the urban landscape in 2040, and for the city to be smart. The goal is to complete the transformations in the city in order to keep pace with the future. Humanly, allowing people to move from one side to the other in a safe and smooth manner, making the street more lively. As for the second main goal in the project, Perak emphasized that it is to reduce temperatures by 10 degrees through the use of Albedo principles, which depend on the reflection, color and quality of materials used in the infrastructure, and developing them using permanent shades and focusing on the direction of the wind so that ventilation is natural, In addition to special types of plants in order to reduce the humidity and thus reduce the temperature in Dubai by 10 degrees for sure.

The founder of Dabbagh Engineering Company, Somaya Al-Dabbagh, spoke to “Emirates Today” about the presented project, which includes the urban face of the region and not only the Emirates, and indicated that after the Corona pandemic last year, people were doomed to explore the surrounding areas, and thus explored the surrounding nature such as mountains and valleys Others, and this is what was missed a lot. She pointed out that the projects reflect interest in nature, in addition to some projects that are related to heritage and historical cities, so that the focus is on antiquity, and the importance of respecting history, the land and the wealth it holds.

Dabbagh considered that projects that protect the environment and preserve natural resources are very important, explaining that architecture bears the responsibility to create dialogue between engineering and nature.

She stressed the importance of the exhibition, especially in its focus on the development of the UAE and how it can work differently for a sustainable future.
