Germany registers a record of daily covid infections with more than 50,000 cases

Germany on Thursday registered the highest number of daily covid-19 infections since the start of the pandemic, with 50,196 new cases in 24 hours, according to the Robert Koch health surveillance institute.

It is the first time that the threshold of 50,000 daily cases has been exceeded in Germany, currently hit by a virulent wave that has left several records of infections in recent days.

The number of new deaths this Thursday was 235.

Thus, the total number of infections since the start of the coronavirus pandemic amounts to 4,894,250 and deaths to 97,198.
