What do you look like today?

With that question, Katarina Hahr began her interviews.

Because she was blind, it was an equally natural and smart opening to engage the listeners and bring to life a conversation on the radio - in addition to eliciting something about the interviewee's self-image in the way he describes himself and his appearance.

Katarina Hahr was born in 1961 and studied theater at Calle Flygare's theater school.

Among other things, she participated in the Ibsen set The Woman from the Sea at Dramaten.

Since childhood, Katarina Hahr suffered from chronic iritis, an eye disease that causes irritation and photosensitivity.

She became one of the first in Sweden to undergo a corneal transplant, but later suffered from corneal removal and became blind.

Started a radio career in the 90's

After studying at the School of Journalism in 1994, she began a radio career and produced several radio documentaries on the topic of blindness, and was awarded the Ikaros Prize for one of them entitled Blind (1994) followed by I do not see my child (2003) and When You Became Blind ( 2011).

Katarina Hahr was known for her humor and ability to deal with difficult topics with both depth and ease.

She did not weigh in on painful themes and has described how she tried to go "straight on" to get the best out of her interviewees.

Led Christmas program

Katarina Hahr lived in Stockholm and when the city withdrew her escort in 2015, she fought for two years in court to get it back, which she succeeded in 2017.

Together with Mauro Scocco, Hahr used to lead the Christmas programs on Swedish radio.

Katarina Hahr turned 60 years old.
