A pre-wedding photo session nearly turned into a disaster for the newlyweds in Rajasthan on Tuesday, after four people, including the bride and groom, got stuck in a flowing waterfall as the gates of the Rana Pratap Sagar Dam were opened by mistake.

The police and civil defense team withdrew the couple and two others after a rescue operation that lasted nearly three hours.

The incident came after the gates of Rana Pratap Sagar dam were opened on Tuesday morning, and as a result, the flow of water intensified at Chulia Falls when Ashish Gupta, 29, from Kuta, and his bride Sheikha, 27, reached the rocks for a pre-wedding photoshoot.

They were accompanied by their friend Himanshu, 22, and the girl's niece, Milan, 18.

"All four of them went to the water," said Rajaram Gurjar, who is in charge of peacekeeping operations in the region.

When the couple and their friends were busy taking pictures while sitting on the rocks, the water level started to rise, so the photographer, who was terrified, asked them to get out of the water, but they did not listen to him.

The photographer somehow got out, but his camera fell into the water, while the newlyweds and their relatives became trapped on the rocks as the waterfall flowed.

The photographer informed the police as soon as he got out of the water.
