Before the arrival of winter, a test run of the "Sasara Train" was conducted in Hakodate City to remove snow from the tram tracks with a bamboo brush.

The "Sasara Train" is a snow removal vehicle that sweeps away the snow that has accumulated on the tracks while rotating a brush called "Sasara," which is a bundle of finely chopped bamboo attached to the front and back of the vehicle.

A test run was conducted on the 10th, and maintenance personnel inspected whether the "Sasara" was firmly attached to the front and rear of the vehicle and whether it rotated normally.

After that, the vehicle left the garage and ran a section of about 7 km round trip to check if there were any problems with the vehicle or "Sasara".

The Hakodate Tram's "Sapporo Train" was dispatched from December to March every year, and last year it was dispatched 12 times.

Yosuke Tanigami, a technician from the Transportation Department of the Hakodate City Transportation Bureau, said, "Every year, we feel that it is difficult for us to accumulate snow, but the" Sasara Train "is also a tradition of Hakodate City, and we want to work hard for our customers." Was there.
