Fan Jinshi, the honorary dean of the Dunhuang Academy, was awarded the honorary title of "National Moral Model" in the dedication category. At the age of 83, she is still working hard to compile the second volume of the Dunhuang Grottoes Archaeological Report.

  Fan Jinshi graduated from Peking University in 1963 and then joined the Dunhuang Institute of Cultural Relics (the predecessor of the Dunhuang Institute). He has served as the deputy director of the Dunhuang Institute of Cultural Relics, the vice president and dean of the Dunhuang Institute, and is currently the honorary dean of the Dunhuang Institute. Librarian.

  She is committed to the archaeological research, scientific protection and management of the Dunhuang Grottoes.

Using the method of archeological typology, she completed the periodization of the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes during the Northern Dynasties, Sui and the early Tang dynasties, and revealed the law of development and evolution of the caves in various periods and the characteristics of the times, laying a solid foundation for the study of Dunhuang Grottoes and becoming recognized by the academic community. The results of the Dunhuang Grottoes by stages are arranged by year; she has undertaken more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial research projects, presided over more than 10 international cooperation projects, published 13 monographs, published more than 120 academic papers, and compiled 3 national and industry technical standards .

  The first volume of "The Complete Works of Dunhuang Grottoes", "The Archaeological Report of Mogao Grottoes No. 266-275", compiled by Fan Jinshi, is the first scientific and academic grotto archeological report in China, and it is the archaeological report of other cave temple sites. The writing provided a reference; under her leadership, the Dunhuang Academy took the lead in constructing the "digital Dunhuang" archives, realized the digital permanent preservation and sustainable use of Dunhuang grotto cultural relics, and constructed a magnificent blueprint for the protection and utilization of Dunhuang cultural relics in the new century.

Today, the 83-year-old Mr. Fan Jinshi is still working hard to compile the second volume of the Dunhuang Grottoes archaeological report.

  Fan Jinshi chooses one thing and spends his whole life, rooted in the desert, without regrets, and regards the protection, research, promotion, and management of Dunhuang cultural heritage as a lifelong career, and has made major contributions to the permanent preservation and sustainable use of the world cultural heritage. He is praised as "Daughter of Dunhuang".

She has also won many honorary titles such as "Outstanding Contributor to Cultural Relics Protection", "Pioneer of Reform", "100 People Touching China Since the Founding of New China", "National Outstanding Communist Party Member" and so on.
