A number of artists and specialists in drama and cinema confirmed that the Emirati theater has witnessed great leaps since its launch in the first half of the 20th century, and at the same time it faced many obstacles.

This came during a dialogue session entitled "Drama and theater... Aesthetics of upbringing and creativity of development", which was held within the activities of the Sharjah International Book Fair, during which Emirati artist Abdullah Saleh and Dr. Habib Ghuloom spoke. Dr. Habib Ghuloom said: “We encourage our audience to attend the theater constantly, although theatrical presence in the UAE is not as expected compared to the rest of the arts, but the theater is still present and continuous, and it is concentrated in the Emirate of Sharjah specifically like other areas of the cultural sector, and thanks to that To His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He added: "His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah took upon himself the care of culture and intellectuals, and his white hands did not stop at supporting the Emirati cultural sector, but also extended beyond the borders of the state as well, and thanks to His Highness we have continued to work and strive since the seventies so that cultural giving does not stop."

He continued: "Despite the great difficulties that faced the Emirati theater in the seventies, we believe that artistic work in general, and theater in particular, can bring great benefits to society if it is properly used, and this requires the concerted efforts of various institutions, because the mere presence of good intentions It does not create creativity.

The artist Abdullah Saleh stressed that the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, began since the first launch of the Emirati theater in the fifties of the last century, and then it began in educational schools in Sharjah in 1953.

He explained that in the early seventies the state witnessed the emergence of a number of theatrical troupes, and on a larger scale, and began to present a lot of works, especially on the National Day, which witnessed the presence of Their Highnesses, the rulers of the Emirates, and some theatrical troupes received support, and it has continued to this day.

He concluded his speech by saying: “Although the actual launch of theater in the Emirates dates back to the beginning of the fifties of the last century, I came across some sources that indicate that the beginning was in the forties, and I mentioned this in a book I recently wrote as a personal initiative, and it talks about Emirati theater. ».
