While the incidence rate of Covid-19 continues to rise in France, with an address by Emmanuel Macron scheduled for Tuesday, Creuse has recorded a very sharp increase in the number of cases.

A consequence of many festive events during which barrier gestures were not respected.

DECRYPTION

The Covid-19 is on the rise in Creuse.

Despite a low incidence rate for several months in the department, the delegation of Creuse from the Regional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine is worried about a strong relaxation of barrier gestures.

The inhabitants seem to have returned to life before, since the start of the school holidays.

The incidence rate has tripled in two weeks, reaching 114 according to the latest figures from health authorities.

The national average is 62 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, before a speech by Emmanuel Macron, Tuesday at 8 p.m.

"Tea dances, birthdays ..."

The increase in the number of cases is "due to a few festive events which brought together a large number of participants each time," notes Isabelle Dumond, departmental director of ARS in Creuse. "There are examples of tea dances, indoor birthdays, mussels and chips meals, etc. These are festive events that have generated a large number of contact cases and positive cases."

In total, the ARS has identified more than 50 people infected during these holidays.

They are mostly over 65 years old and some are not vaccinated.

The incidence rate thus reaches 309 for those over 90, 144 for those 80-89, 241 for those aged 70-79.

To slow down this epidemic outbreak in the Creuse, the ARS asks all those concerned by the third dose to be vaccinated as soon as possible.
