Divers found and rescued a green turtle that was unable to swim off the coast of Kakeromajima, south of Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture.

The cause of the inability to swim was "something" attached to the shell of the green turtle.

On the 2nd, about 800 meters off the coast of Kakeromajima, divers from the Amami Whale and Dolphin Association, who were investigating the ecology of dolphins, found a green turtle struggling near the surface of the sea.

When I pulled it up with a net and rescued it, about 20 cm of "Tengugai" was attached to the shell of a green turtle about 50 cm in length.

It seems that the weight caused the balance to be lost and it was not possible to swim.

According to Mr. Katsuki Ko, who discovered this green turtle and is studying marine life, the green turtle has a habit of hiding in a rocky place and sleeping so that it will not be attacked by foreign enemies such as sharks. It means that it may have adhered to the shell of the turtle.

The green turtles swam as the divers peeled off the chicoreus ramosus and released it into the sea.

Mr. Xing said, "Barnacles may be attached to the shell of sea turtles, but I think it is an extremely rare case that large shells adhere to them. It was difficult to level the body because the shells were heavy. I think it was difficult to breathe. "
