Publishing houses have introduced new advertising methods for a number of their publications at the Sharjah International Book Fair, with the aim of attracting fair goers to learn about their literary and intellectual output, explaining the idea of the book in a simplified and practical way, and increasing sales during the fair.

Sales officials (Hamdan Abdullah, Muhammad Saber, and Abdul Rahman Salem) confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the innovative advertising reflected positively on the volume of sales during the past days of the exhibition, noting that the reader sees in the exhibition a large amount of books, and he cannot identify them all. In a short period, therefore, innovative advertising is an appropriate tool to clarify the idea of the book, and its importance to the reader.

An Emirati library displayed "Piplosima", its books with propaganda in its pavilion at the exhibition, which bears the phrase "a blind date with a book", which aroused the curiosity of many visitors to the exhibition to know the implications of the propaganda phrase.

Alaa Mustafa, a "visitor", said that the idea of displaying books is wonderful because it emphasizes the necessity of reading the book so that one can know its content and main idea, and thus one does not judge a book by its cover only.

He stated that the library offers collections of books in the form of wrapped gifts, and he does not know what this collection is until after buying it and opening its cover, adding that he bought a packaged set, and it turned out that they were three literary booklets of wonderful stories.

In another form of propaganda, the Kuwaiti Dar Al-Nahda Library presented the book “Pistachio Theory” in a practical way, as it published a video on its account on “Instagram” showing a person eating pistachio kernels, and then another comes to explain to him the importance of this type of nuts, and guides him to read more about it in an image Deeper in the pistachio theory book.

The sales official in the Dar Al-Nahda Library pavilion at the Sharjah International Book Fair, Khaled Saleh, confirmed that the idea of advertising made the book a best seller inside the fair, as dozens of copies were sold during the past three days of the fair.

He added that one of the bookstores specialized in selling books had asked Dar Al-Nahda 10,000 copies of the book "The Pistachio Theory".
