What is the height for a national emblem?

Disappear.

This is what almost happened with the bald eagle, the symbol of the United States.

This raptor was chosen in 1782 to represent the country, it was then present throughout the territory.

But during the twentieth century, many forests are razed and it loses much of its habitat.

The eagle is also hunted because it threatens the cattle.

A law is enacted to prevent its hunting, but the eagle continues to decline because of a very powerful pesticide, the application of which prevents the eggs from developing properly.

The population of the species is then reduced to 417 breeding pairs.

Critically endangered, it is the ban on this pesticide that will allow the eagle to survive, as well as the creation of protected areas and the establishment of reintroductions.

These actions allow the bird to be removed from the list of endangered species in 2007.
