Finding “Cleo” .. an Australian girl who mysteriously disappeared for two weeks and occupied public opinion

Australian police announced that a 4-year-old girl who disappeared from a camp more than two weeks ago was found alive and in good health in a closed house.

And turned the story of the disappeared girl into a public opinion issue.

Police stormed a house in a town 100 km south of the camp this morning, Wednesday, to find little Cleo Smith in one of the rooms.

And "Reuters" quoted the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Western Australia, as saying that "one of the officers carried her in his arms before asking her what your name is?"

He added that the authorities had detained a person in connection with her disappearance.

Cleo was last seen in her family's tent around 1:30 a.m. local time on 16 October at the remote Bloholhols Chaks camp in Macleod, about 900 km north of Perth, the Western Australian capital.

When her parents woke up the next day, they found no trace of her.

Police feared she may have been the victim of a kidnapping, and have offered a $1 million reward for information on her.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison commented in a tweet on his Twitter account, saying: "What a wonderful and heart-warming news... Cleo Smith has been found and she has returned home safe and sound."

He added, "Our prayers have been answered."

Activists on Twitter circulated pictures of Meth, expressing their joy at finding her and returning to her family in good health.
