Traditionally the international capital of photography, in November, Paris hosts many events dedicated to the 8th art this month.

The “PhotoSaintGermain” festival and the “Rencontres photographiques du 10e”, which both begin this Thursday, November 4, are proof of this.

The opportunity to admire the work of many photographers in galleries or emblematic places of Paris, often free entry, from the Left Bank to the Right Bank.

Small review, not exhaustive, in pictures.

  • “PhotoSaintGermain” takes place from November 4 to 20 in the 45 partner venues of the festival, such as the Academy of Fine Arts where the photos of Annie Leibovitz are exhibited.

  • The novelty of this 10th edition is that the event crosses the Seine, towards the Right Bank, around a route dedicated to the photo book.

  • The festival offers a route that brings together institutions, galleries and bookstores.

  • “3 Under 30” is the fifth edition of a competition launched by Galerie Daniel Blau to support young creation.

The winners are Jimmy Chin Kiu Lee, Sarah Louise Lordan and Manon Martsch.

  • Established since the 1930s in the Saint-Germain district, the Roger-Viollet photo agency opens its doors to an exhibition entitled “L'Orient en Grand.

A photographic epic in panoramic format ”, in a renovated interior.

  • "Ba ling hou" (born after 80), the term refers to the first generation born under the one-child policy in China.

Child of this generation, Luo Yang depicts the emergence of a Chinese urban youth who grew up in a universe of which they were the center.

  • The "10th Photographic Meetings" take place from November 4 to December 1.

The photographer Martin Bonheur is the godfather of this 9th edition which dedicates the 8th art in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.

  • For the third time, the artistic direction has been entrusted to the Fetart collective, which also organizes the “Circulations (s)” festival dedicated to young European photography.

Exhibitions, screenings, workshops, meetings with artists, it's more than 30 events in free access, spread over 6 hotspots in the heart of the arrondissement, such as Gare de l'Est / Villemin or Château d'eau / Lancry.

  • The 12 laureates of the biennial are, as every year, gathered for a large collective exhibition

in the heart of the 10th district, like Mathias Benguigui and his work on the Lesbos camp.

  • Alexis Pazoumian, Franco-Armenian photographer and director, presents the strange reality of life in the Haut-

Karabakh during the endless conflict with Azerbaijan.

  • Born in 1992, photojournalist Chloé Sharrock presents her work on the city of Raqqa, ten years after the start of the conflict in Syria.

  • Nouta Kiaïe was born in 1995. With her series "Lovstory", it is above all the story of people that she tells in photos.

Those she sees, that she frequents, those who share her life or simply those she meets in the metro.

  • The “Mbelha” project, carried out in February 2020, is at the crossroads of documentary, activist and artistic fields.

Through the staging of the force-feeding of women in Mauritania, this photographic and sound series bears witness to their traditional obligations.

Born in 1994, Carmen Abd Ali does not wish to denounce a cultural practice from a Western point of view, but rather to give a voice to Mauritanian women by getting them involved in an artistic project.
