In the future, young unemployed people in France will receive up to 500 euros a month if they seek professional help in finding a training or job.

The benefit should be paid from March 2022, President Emmanuel Macron announced on Facebook on Tuesday.

"All young people under 26 who have not been in training or have a job for several months" are entitled.

According to Macron, they can be accompanied 15 to 20 hours a week to find an apprenticeship or a job.

The state pays up to 500 euros per month, depending on the income and commitment of the individual.

Around half a million young people are eligible.

"I cannot accept that several hundred thousand of you are too long without work and often without income and without prospects," says the text on Facebook, with which Macron is addressing young people directly.

The opposition sees the bonus, which is due to come into force a few weeks before the presidential election, as an electoral maneuver.

“The measure should only apply for 2022.

(...) The president is campaigning with the checkbook, ”criticized the conservative presidential candidate Xavier Bertrand.
