• At the end of October, the Art Explora foundation, which aims to democratize culture, presented its two new projects.

  • The

    “museum boat” is set to

    crisscross

the seas from September 2023 to raise visitors' awareness of contemporary issues.

  • The Art Explora Academy platform is already available free of charge to retrace all periods of art history.

This museum will travel the seas.

Art Explorer

will be a 46.5-meter-long catamaran and will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 visitors… The construction of this boat, not quite like the others, is about to begin, for an inauguration scheduled in Marseille in September 2023.

This project is supported by Art Explora which presents itself as "a philanthropic foundation, with international ambition, nomadic, innovative and digital".

“On earth, we have done a lot of things in terms of culture.

On the sea - which covers three quarters of the planet - I have no knowledge of it, and I said to myself that it could potentially be a fantastic vector for disseminating art, ”

Philippe Rousset

told

20 Minutes

, who created this foundation in 2019.

The democratization of culture, the foundation's common thread

Designed by the naval architect Axel de Beaufort, the museum ship should, during its first year, make a trip to some fifteen countries of the Mediterranean basin.

Its mission will be to make visitors aware of contemporary issues, adapting the works it will exhibit to local issues.

Alongside the boat, which will stop over for ten days, the foundation will display an exhibition of works by local artists on the quay and will schedule a multidisciplinary cultural festival in the partner city.

This museum ship illustrates the raison d'être of Art Explora: the democratization of culture.

The foundation's ambition is to bring art to an audience that is not used to, the means - or does not think it has the desire - to go towards art.

A "Netflix of arts and culture"

In October, she also launched an online art history discovery platform.

The Art Explora Academy, accessible free of charge on computer, mobile or tablet, offers eleven 40-minute courses to retrace all periods of art history.

The Internet user is guided there by professors from the Sorbonne.

At the end of each course, a small quiz is offered in order to obtain - perhaps - a knowledge certificate validated by the partner university.

The other added value of this platform is its media library which gives free access to “hundreds, and very quickly thousands of content,” explains Bruno Julliard, Managing Director of Art Explora.

In partnership with many cultural institutions, media and YouTubers / podcasters, this site boasts of being the “Netflix of arts and culture”.
